"Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see." Hebrews 11:1
My wonderful preacher entitled this sermon "Donkey in the Well." The story goes a little something like this: a donkey fell in a well and they tried to get it out. For some reason they decided it was useless and left the donkey there.
I would just like to say that Hebrews is the book of encouragement. How hard do you really try? You have to give it all you got and you can't lose hope. Show your faith. Show your hope. Doing this will make a difference. When your faith needs stirring, seek His pleasure in all you do! You have to use the faith in your heart. We are all struggling with something, whether it be trying to get a donkey out of a well or finals week. Determine to show your faith and hope. You have to do what God wants you to do. Have a talk with Him, and He will show you the path you need to take. God loves everyone no matter their faith. Jesus, give us faith and hope that can't be measured.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
