Matthew 15 talks mostly about your actions/words, and believing. The Pharisees came to Jerusalem to visit Jesus. They judged his disciples because they ate their food with dirty hands. Jesus in turn said, "You only help your mother and father and tell them it's a gift when God says to honor thy mother and father. You should do it and want nothing in return." You have to do it God's way not your way. Food does not make you unclean. It is the words that come out of your mouth. It is the actions you perform. Eating with dirty hands does not make you unclean. The words and actions that come from your heart make you unclean. The devil will pull up the seed that has not been planted. You need to watch why you say and do, or the devil will tempt you harder. A woman wanted her daughter cured from demon possession. Jesus told her that He only heals believers. He doesn't want to take help away from His followers. She proved to Him that she believed. She told Him that she has learned from His disciples, because Jesus has taught them. Jesus then healed her daughter. He gained many more followers after that. He healed many more people. The new believers and followers stayed with Him for three days. Jesus had no way of feeding them, and He knew they were hungry. They had seven loaves of bread and a few fish. Jesus prayed over the food and broke the bread. This allowed for Him to feed four thousand people, plus women and children. This goes to show that the power of prayer is far more powerful than anything else in this mortal world.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
