When Jesus came home and sited all of the parables, King Herod thought there was no way that this could be Jesus. It had to be John the Baptist. Therefore, he threw John the Baptist in jail. Herod wanted to kill John, but there were so many people who considered him a prophet so John lived, until Herod had his birthday. The child of Herodias asked for John the Baptist's head on a silver platter. She wanted his actual head, and that is what she got. Everyone was so upset about this that they made themselves sick.
This chapter also mentions Jesus feeding the five thousand. He was able to feed five thousand people with five loaves of bread and two fish just by praying to God. Jesus blessed the food and broke the bread, allowing everyone to have food. A few days later, Jesus makes all of the people leave and He goes onto the mountain and prayed to God. Jesus was able to walk on water over to His disciples. They thought it was a ghost. Peter was then able to walk on the water towards Jesus, but when he began to doubt, he began to sink. You have to have faith. When they saw Jesus walking on water they knew Him to be the Son of God. They believed in Him. A little bit of faith lifts you up. Jesus healed all of the sick and injured. It is truly important to always have faith in the Lord.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
