"As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath. But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions-it is by grace you have been saved." Ephesians 2:1-5
We, as Christians, need to acknowledge the undeniable love he has for us. This passage also shows us how faithfully merciful God is. In this passage, Paul was preaching to the churches. He was telling them that they need to listen to the voice of God, just as I am telling you now. HELP ME LORD! In the past, we were spiritually dead because of disobedience and sin. We need to obey the ruler of spiritual power, but the right one. These days, Satan powers people in society. Thanks be to God because He loves us so much. We need to acknowledge that the Lord is almighty and that He has done wonders for us. We can't take Him for granted and we need to hear His voice.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
