"Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, 'Did God really say 'You must not eat from any tree in the garden?' The woman said to the serpent, 'We may eat fruit from the tress in the garden, but God did say, 'You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.' 'You will not surely die,' the serpent said to the woman. 'For God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.'" Genesis 3:1-5
This is known as the fall of man. It was never said in the bible that the serpent was Satan, but all arrows point to it. God tells us what we should and should not do. We don't always do what He says. We do what we believe, not what He believes. We do it because we are told not to do it. We are like children. "Don't touch the stove it's hot." And then burning your hand because you touched the hot stove. God expected them to do it. Focus on what Adam and Eve did. They were tempted by Satan. They had it all. They were blessed. Satan got the best of them. We take things for granted. God knows all. He has given instructions for us to follow. Angels in heaven rejoice when good things happen for us. We HAVE to follow the gospel and God will bless America again.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
