Southern Trace Rehabilitation and Care Center was established in 2010, serving over 100 elders in the community. They have been fortunate to receive the award the past two years the “Best of the Best Rehab Services”.
2015 was an exciting year for the rehab clinic. They have enjoyed lots of fun activities this past year. From our 3rd annual tailgate, to visiting the Christmas tree Farm, to the grand opening of our new pavilion. The elders ended the year with several awards from the Senior Olympics.
They look forward to kicking off the New Year with many new goals and ideas. They are excited to announce Angel Wilkerson as a new manager at Southern Trace. Angel started as our staffing coordinator in 2015 and will carry the role as Activity Director for 2016.
Southern Trace is very active in the community, and has been a member of the Bryant Chamber of Commerce since 2013. They host blood, food, and toy drives. Saline County is a wonderful place to start a family or retire. They love and enjoy being a part of our community and can not wait to see what 2016 has in store for them.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
