Big things happened for Roller-Ballard Funeral Home in 2015. The funeral home began development of a new funeral home located on Alcoa Road. It also added Letta’s Flower and Gifts in Bryant to the floral team in order to complement The Flower Cart in Benton. Roller-Ballard also brought on Jim Collins as the new manager of the funeral home. “We were honored to serve some of the best families in the state of Arkansas ‘With All Our Respect,’” Justin Lowery states.
For 2016, the funeral home plans to further develop its new location and continue its mission to serve Saline County with the finest personal service and a compassionate staff. Gene Moore is the office manager for Roller-Ballard. He has been a licensed funeral director for almost nineteen years with Roller-Ballard. His behind the scenes operations are unique and appreciated.
Karen Carter, secretary and funeral assistant, has been with Roller-Ballard for thirty-two years. She works with the funeral home’s support group THEOS and is a member of Kiwanis and both Benton and Bryant Chamber of Commerce.
Jim Collins, the new manager, comes from Burns Funeral Home in Yellville. “It is a great honor and privilege to serve the families of Saline County. The genuine care and comfort of our families is our highest mission,” Jim Collins.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
