"While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, 'Peace be with you.' They were startled and frightened and thinking they saw a ghost. He said to them, 'Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds? Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.' When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet. And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, 'Do you have anything here to eat?' They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence. He said to them, 'This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms.' Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures. He told them, 'This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be reached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things.'"
Luke 24: 36-48
This passage is all about the witnessing of Christ. During this time, Jesus has a limited time to tell His disciples something special. He actually scared Him, they thought He was a ghost. Jesus doesn't see what is on the outside, only what is on the inside. He sees us for who we really are. He knows they are scared, and He also knows that they know better than to be scared. Jesus does this thing where he eats and he teaches. As witnesses of Christ, we have to fix the problem. What is the problem? There is a heart issue we have to get fixed. We have to do the things that we should and need to be doing to tell the world about Jesus. We have to set out and be the witnesses of Jesus and share Him with others. Make that your goal in life. Tell everyone you can about Jesus, no matter the situation. There is always a time and a place for Him.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
