"Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled aground your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." Ephesians 6: 10-17
This passage is all about temptation and Satan. It reminds you that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. It's important to be ready for the world. This passage is referencing the Roman soldiers armor. You have to have faith in a fear-mongering world. God is our faithful savior and He has faithful strength. The belt of truth protects your major organs. It protects yourself through the truth of Jesus in the world. The breastplate of righteousness protects your heart, the heart of God. We need strong faith to protect what Satan is pushing on us. Get away from me Satan! The feet of peace is for rough terrain. We have to ready ourselves to go and serve God. Bring the peace and grace of Christ to all the world. Peace comes from knowing Christ. The shield of faith blocks something about to take your life. Faith is believing. Faith gets us through the hardest times in life. Block the evil coming to us. Faith comes from knowing Christ. The helmet of salvation protects the brain. The brain is the central unit of the body. Salvation covers us when we do dumb things, sins, unrighteousness. It protects us. The sword of the spirit is the bible. We need all of these things to protect us from Satan and evil.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
