"When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: 'Do not be afraid. I am the first and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.'" Revelation 1: 17-18
Many people, especially older generations, fear Revelation. They don't understand it. It just isn't what the word is about. What's crazy is that everything from Genesis to Revelation lines up perfectly because of God. If it is in this bible, it is meant to be. This verse is all about His resurrection. Jesus is my story. He is my life. I am here because of Him. So let's debunk the theory that the resurrection is foolish. Jesus' resurrection is the most powerful thing we experience. There is no Christianity without the resurrection. The resurrection is the faith that we hold. Easter isn't just one day for Christians. It is every day. You need to look forward to the day you fall at Jesus' feet and thank Him. God is the first and the last. It began with God, and it will end with God. There are two resurrections. This one, and when we are resurrected with our savior. It's not foolish, it is the Gospel. The message is the power of Jesus Christ we need to be reminded of every day. Up from the grave He rose. He is forevermore. He saves us and rejoices over us. In all of the verses, all of the songs, God is singing about ME. What will it take to truly believe the power of the resurrection? Bow and Pray.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
