"Do yo not know? Have you not heard? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood since the earth was founded? He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in." Isaiah 40:21-22
The first two sentences of this verse is stated twice in this chapter of Isaiah. That's how important it is. You know all of this. We are all aware of the power of God, His capabilities. He is big, great, holy. You've felt Him. He gives so much hope and love. Did you know that the largest statue of Jesus is in Rio? Also, Isaiah is the most influential book in the old testament. Some times we get tired, sick, weary, hopeless. Give it all to God and you can soar like an eagle. Do you know know how big God is? Don't let other things get in front of God. There is nothing greater than God - He's above the heaven and earth. He is in charge. Don't let the free will distract you. We will face our God, the God, the powerful God.
I just recently finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. I had no idea what this novel was going to be about going into it; all I knew was that our 10th grade English class study it. Right off the bat I noticed that our narrator was not your average Joe. The narrator is death. When I realized this I said to myself, "Oh this is going to be good." The novel is all about the Holocaust and it is shown from a German point of view. Leisel Meminger's mother gives her away to a foster German family. On the trip to this new family, Leisel's brother dies. So right from the start death is there. I'm not going to give you a synopsis of it, because I think you should read it for yourself. Just know that a German family hides a Jew in their basement for a while, and death is around every corner. That last line of the novel really got me though..."I am haunted by humans."
