Hook, Line, and Thinkers

"Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way: Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus(, Nathanael from Cana in Gallilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. 'I'm going out to fish,' Simon Peter told them, and they said, 'We'll go with you.' So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. He called out to them, 'Friends, haven't you any fish?' 'No,' they answered. He said, 'Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.' When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish." John 21: 1-6 Let us remember that Jesus is a faithful provider. He showed these men to not give up. We also need to remember that people aren't going to change. They pulled this net onto the bank, ...

Matthew 12

Matthew chapter 12 speaks a lot of who Jesus is. Jesus is a representation of the sacrements, The Jews, and the body. He is the son of man and the reason for the Sabbath. The trinity, that is referenced, is God, His son, and the Holy Spirit. These three things are all one tied together. In the beginning of the chapter, David represents the day of bread. God did not allow for the punishment that David endured. The Pharisees were trying to catch Jesus doing something. They were trying to accuse Jesus so that He could be punished. They didn't believe Him. They didn't believe in Him. They questioned Him. Why Jesus? Think of the Trinity. God, Jesus, the Holy Spirit, these all represent the Sabbath. God was not born, He was begotten. The Holy Spirit dwells within us. The ones that Jesus came to serve and protect turned on Him. The questioned Him. We have to be with Jesus, not against Him. We have to let Him fight for us. Who you associate with determines who you are. The mouth speaks...

My Life

Here lately I've just felt defeated. I've felt so overwhelmed. I've felt alone. Nothing has gone right. I've stressed about money. I've stressed about the wedding. I've studied the word of God. I've fought with Troyce, and it's my own fault. I haven't been thankful. I haven't been grateful. I haven't turned it completely over to the Lord like I thought I have. Everything will work out the way it's supposed to.

"Sister Carrie" Review

"Sister Carrie" by Theodore Dreiser is a fairly old book. I was supposed to read it in my American Literature II class, but we never got around to it. At first, I was blowing it off. It wasn't interesting to me. It didn't really get interesting until Carrie moved in with Drouet. It is my understanding that, during that time period, moving in with a man you weren't married to was considered frowned upon. Even though they weren't married, they called themselves Mr. and Mrs. Drouet. It got really interesting when she met his MARRIED friend and started hanging out with him. Hurstwood manages to keep his wife and children a secret from Carrie. Carrie has a dream of being on the stage, but Chicago isn't the place for acting. Hurstwood steals Carrie away from Chicago and takes her to New York where he marries her under false names. Hurstwood remains successful, but not as successful as he was in Chicago. It comes to the point where he looses his job. They have no...

Are We Missing the Moment?

"Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' " Luke 4:8 The devil tempted Jesus. It is human nature. The Holy Spirit and baptisms allowed for Him to fight off the temptations. We are the children of God. We have the same resources that Jesus had to fight temptations. How you fight temptations is all that matters. They don't always go away. Don't miss the God moments because of temptations. Fight and experience those God moments. Don't let someone else lead you. Don't let life overpower you. Don't let Satan steal your relationship with Jesus Christ. Satan knows your weaknesses and wants to lead you down a path that is not righteous. "Get thee behind me Satan." Be full of the Holy Spirit. Jesus was lead by the Holy Spirit. Even in times of temptation, He felt/experienced that God moment. God, lead me. Guide me. Protect me.
